In Case of Emergency Campaign (ICE)
From the East Anglian Ambulance NHS Trust
This is pretty brilliant!
The idea is that by entering the acronym ICE – for In Case of Emergency – into a mobile’s phone book, users can log the name and number of someone who should be contacted in an emergency.
By adopting ICE, your cell phone will be able to help rescue services quickly contact a friend or relative – which could be vital in a life or death situation.
"It's not a difficult thing to do. As many people say they carry mobile phones in case of an emergency, it seems natural this information should be kept there." - Bob Brotchie
And although you probably typically don't, will you make an exception and email this to people you know? it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.
For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.
THIS IS NEITHER A HOAX NOR AN AD -- REFERENCE:

A national campaign launched by a Cambridge-based paramedic with Vodafone to encourage people to store emergency contact details in their mobile phones. The campaign was launched the week of 20 April 2005 by Bob Brotchie and Falklands war hero Simon Weston in association with Vodafone’s annual Life Savers Awards.
